  ARRA Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program Deadline for applications is June 25, 2009.   The attached is the information from the May 18, 2009 webcast for Tribal Governments on the ARRA Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant Program. This program has allocated $54 million to Tribal governments, and one of the eligible uses is development and implementation of energy efficient transportation programs.

3M Sign Grant Program Helps Municipalities Meet Federal Transportation Mandate - New grant program will help municipalities save lives and dollars by improving road sign visibility

ST. PAUL, Minn. – January 12, 2009 – 3M Traffic Safety Systems is launching the 3M Sign Grant Program, a new program designed to significantly reduce road sign replacement costs to local and state governments to meet the latest federal retroreflectivity standards set by the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to improve traffic safety. The purpose of this message is to announce the solicitation of grant applications for FY 2009 funding under the National Scenic Byways Program.  Application information is detailed in the attached memorandum signed by Associate Administrator Gloria Shepherd. Applications are due from the State Departments of Transportation (State DOTs) and Indian tribes to the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) division offices by March 13, 2009.  The division offices should forward all applications to Headquarters by April 10, 2009.

Archived Transportation Grant Programs

The number and amount of awards will be determined by a competitive process. However, funding is available for start up services, enhancements or expansion of existing transit services, and for planning studies and operational planning. Approximately 25% of the funding is set aside for start up grants. Planning grants will be limited to $25,000 per applicant. Multiple year projects will be considered for funding, subject to the availability of annual appropriations.
Eligible direct recipients include federally-recognized Indian tribes or Alaska Native villages, groups, or Alaska Native villages, groups, or communities as identified by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) in the U.S. Department of the Interior. To be eligible recipients, tribes must have the requisite legal, financial and technical capabilities to receive and administer Federal funds under this program.
